Surgery done on Oct. 26th

Recommended Posts

Well this is the second time I joined in on this site. Had my surgery on Wednesday. Everything went great. Stayed overnight. I had the surgery in Flint Mi at Hurley. It was the first day they started the lap band. I was the third done. They treated me like a Queen.

I had to be on liquids one week before the surgery and 2 weeks after. I had to purchase a kit by Better MD. Its a really good kit, kept me full most of the time.

I'am feeling good except for a little pain when getting out of a chair or bed. I'am nauseas alot. But I have meds for that. I can't wait ti start on the mushie stage. I need something to chew on.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Welcome CAW - I know it is a hard road in the recovery stage till you get some real food of some sort.

You can make it. Just remember that you are protecting your body - making sure that you are healed before you ask it to do a hard task like digest food.

Try to make the things you eat worthwhile - I made sure the Soups and things I ate were the best - so I truly enjoyed them. It was such a hard time. I just wanted to sleep through most of it.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing. Take care - Nancy

That's funny - I guess the info that our doctors give us must vary a bit... I only had to do 1 day of mushies before my surgery - not 2 weeks of liquids... and post-op only had to do 6 days of liquid and amnow on my 2 weeks of mushies.

I wonder why there's so much variance...

Wow, I can't believe you guys are doing so good. That is great. I have had a little more trouble. Nothing to put my finger on except pain and sick to my stomach. I am better today. I was on Clear Liquids but now am on full liquids for 2 weeks before starting mushy stage. I am sure we can get through this.

you can get some butternut squash Soup and drink it. I have had butternut daily for 2 weeks, we have a store here that sells it for .70 each. OMG love it, little spray butter and cinnamon.

:)

you all are doing great, keep up the good work.

Each doctor is so different. I was on liquids for 2 weeks, Soups and stuff in the blender, then mushies for 2 weeks.

Just wanted to say that I am feeling SO much better. Everyone was right on this board that all of a sudden you are yourself again. I don't have to go back to work for another week so I am going to see how much walking I can do in 7 days. I does get better.

Hi Darla,

The Meal Replacement program was expected by by surgen. I went thru Hurley Bariatric Center in Flint Mi. The surgery was covered 100%, Thank Goodness.

It is callled the 3 week Bariatric Surgery Kit. It cost me 228.00. I was realy never hungery. Of coarse, somethimes you just want to chew,, so I ate ice chips.

Since my banding on Oct 26 counting one week before surgery I have lost 25lbs.

Right now I hardly ever hungry. I can't drink all my replacements meals. I feel alot better now. My nausa is gone. My dr. had me start using a tranaderm patch behind my ear, and boy does it work.

Anyways, I got the Meal Replacement kit at better MD.net. Or you can call them 877-578-1067

Good luck,

Cheryl

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
