I had my surgery 11/16/09, recieve 1.5 cc on 12/3/09 and on 1/12/10 I received my first "real" fill. I wanted agressive and he gave me 3.5 cc which was too much and removed .5 cc.

I'm now officially tight after 8 weeks post banding. Everything I eat, with the expection of liquids and Beans causes me to hurt and burp....no vomiting, but I'm stubborn and won't do it - most likely I'd feel better if I did. :) So, is this my learning curve time? Eat slower, chew longer.........from what I can tell, the burping and sliming is caused by clogging the opening between the pouch and the stomach......is this true? Or am I just too tight? I'm finally loosing weight so I really don't want to be looser and I'm not hungry. But I just tried to give blood and my Iron is down - this has never happened before and I don't want to loose my hair!!! BTY - I always eat my Protein first - but that's only about 4 nickle sized pieces before I start to hurt!

Any advice from you pros?

I go through the same thing after a fill. I just had a fill on Monday. After 2 bites I get intense hiccups. This is a sign that I have eaten enough. As time goes on, you will loosen up a little. This is the time to focus on chewing your food to death and taking very small bites. You'll be fine if you stick it out through the tightness. I like my band tight.

Keep in mind that pain should not be part of the band experience. It is your body's way of saying something is wrong. Also, the longer you stay too tight the greater the chance of erosion.

Your Iron level is low. That is telling you something. You need to address it. Also, feeling like you need to vomit after you eat is not healthy.

Do not put up with any of this just to lose weight and reach a number on the scale. It is not healthy.

I absolutely agree! I could see if you were just filled a few days ago and I would say give it some time, but it's been 10 dyas. I would have to look at it from th epoint of..."Could I live like this and is it healthy for me?" Isn't that why we get the band to begin with?(at least partial reason...LOL)

Something you said got me, and I didn't see anyone else address it....

Nickle size bites is too big. Heck dime size is too big. Cut your chicken or whatever in eraser size "TINY" so that it will not get stuck. My daughter tells me all the time it takes me longer to cut my food than it does to eat it, BUT, I do not get stuck anymore. Heck I even cut kidney Beans in half. I eat chili almost daily, and the meat is grown up so much that there is no way it can get stuck.

I was too full after my 3rd fill, and had to have a small bit removed, lost 6 lbs in 10 days, but was miserable every step of the way. Being too full could cause problems with your band so please take it easy.

If you take smaller bites, like I did mention, it wont hurt you to eat. It is completely normal to have a period of adjustment after each fill and you will notice the bites have to be smaller. Like I said, I like my band tighter. The reason being, I don't want to feel hunger. This is what the band is for! I am not some stupid person who is gonna wear my band so tight that it erodes. Besides, my doctor checks my band under fluoro every time I go in to make sure there is no slippage or erosion. Duh!

Since you are not having the problems that the original poster presented, my advice doesn't apply to you. Duh!

If you are chewing well and are having these problems you are probably too tight. 10 days is more than enough time for the fill to have adjusted from the initial swelling. I would go back and get a small amount taken out. Sometimes .5ccs makes all the difference. Keeping a band too tight for too long can cause problems.

I was speaking to the ORIGINAL poster, not you on this. Not need to be so sarcastic, and I don't remember anyone saying you were a stupid person either.

Just a word of caution about a tight band. I mean one that is causing trouble.

It becomes easier to drink meals because it doesn't hurt. It can also lead to going for slider foods because they go down easier.

Then boredom strikes and you think that a milkshake would be mightly tasty and you really need the calories because nothing else is going down.

Just something to think about..

It can become a downward spiral.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
