nfl1 0 Posted January 21, 2010 While I thought I'd be further than I am, I am so happy to be where I am on my bandiversary - 54 pounds down and still working it!

tammydago 0 Posted January 23, 2010 I am so happy to hear that...especially since I've lost about the same amount of weight in the same amount of time. I'm always a little discouraged when I read other people's stories and their weight loss is so much more in less amount of time. But, honestly, I haven't worked very hard at losing the 55 pounds. I've been stuck at the same weight for the past 2 months, and I know that it's not going away unless I start exercising. But, yes, we are still on track, and I already feel so much better physically and mentally. Can't wait to lose 60 more!

Many from my group who had surgery months after me have lost more, but I know they are much younger, are lower BMIs than me, and my exercise is all in the pool and they are running and doing "boot camp" type things, which I am not up for now. I also choose to eat real food, not everything that's low-fat or whatever because I want to have my habits and portions reflect what I know I can keep up forever. I felt if I did all the yogurt (which I hate), no-fat cottage cheese, etc. I knew I couldn't sustain. So, eventhough I have had long stretches of no loss, I know I can maintain...and my measurements still change, so I try hard not to focus on the # on the scale. crzytchr 3 Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks Tammydago, I too often get discouraged. That is my attitude. I eat most foods that I used to, I just eat a lot less of it. Heck, I even had IHOP last weekend. I ate 1 pancake, 1 egg and 1 slice of bacon! I used to eat the 3 eggs and 3 pancakes with a side of toast and sometimes grits:blushing:. Eating normally and not feeling deprived is how I have survived 3 plateaus, including the one I am in the middle of now. I have not gained any weight, even during the holidays, I am maintaining. I just recently (like last week) joined a gym and am starting to exercise. I am hoping this will help me lose some more weight. But, even if I never lose another pound, I would be happy about my band experience. ***remember the moral of The Tortoise and the Hare; slow and steady wins the race!!!!!***
