I'm just past my one year Bandiversary!!

Recommended Posts

I haven't been on here in awhile and wanted to check int.

I've made it a year with this WONDERFUL band and am looking forward to more progress in 2010!!!

I've chosen the keep my band very slightly filled (3cc in 10cc band) and it has worked EXACTLY as I had hoped!!

I am down 60lbs over the year and couldn't be happier! My weight loss has slowed, but I am not discouraged at all!

I keep eating my Protein first, working out and eating sensibly. I lose approx 3-4lbs per month, but I have NO stuck or PB episodes, have ZERO intolerable foods and do not have to chew my food a billion times. In fact, I feel like I don't even have the band most of the time. I am not hungry for about 5-7 hours at a time and am LOVING the lap band lifestyle!!

I just wanted to let others know that there are other ways to live with the band and be happy. YES I'm not losing 6-10lbs per month, and YES I am hungry on occasion. But I will take ZERO side affects and living a COMPLETELY NORMAL life ANYDAY over throwing up, having stuck episodes, and feeling like I can't eat like a normal human being. I also (gasp) drink with my meals

I hope someone or anyone who has any reservations about how they live with their band reads this and can be helped by any portion of it. I LOVE my band...thanks for all the support!!

Wow well done - this is EXACTLY where I wanna be in a year. I am 5 days post op, still in the liquid stage and a bit hiccupy and gasy but I think this is fairly normal!

I wanna do what you do - I am not interested in losing a tonne of weight quickly but I do wanna live a normal life and eat what I want but in smaller quantities!

THanks for showing that it cah happen!

PS I am in Dublin Ireland and was banded in Belgium

I'm just like you, I was hoping for this result from the beginning. I never wanted to be so full it would hurt, or live in any way different from anyone else. It is an individual journey and different for everyone. I couldn't be happier!!

Good to hear you are doing well!

It is important for people to hear positive input.

I also love my band!

I just passed a year on 2/2. I lost 109lbs. Started at 321 and am now 212. I feel great. We should all stick with it and our goals will be attained

BTW I have enjoyed everything I have eaten. I do not feel deprived. I watch portions and calories. This is a lifestyle, not a diet. Make it work for you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
