New Excercise

Hello,

I'm looking for a new excersise routine I work out at least 6 days a week and would like to shake things up a bit. I'm 12 weeks post op and not dropping the way I would like too. Any suggesstions???? :mad:

I am doing the south beach diet supercharged exercise routine, which is interval training for cardio every other day an strength training the other 3 days with a class at the gym. Here is a link

the book has a detailed section on the moved to do strength training.

I have noticed a big difference in my energy and weight loss.

Well, talk to your doctor about it, but I did the "insanity" workout from Beach Body probably 5 months after and it was incredible. You have to really want it, but I lost a TON of weight really fast. It's not that expensive either. :biggrin:

Well right now I was doing 3 miles on the elipitcal and some strength training and 20 minutes in the sauna. I recently just stepped it up on monday adding in sit ups etc. strength excercises. Any other suggestions? I would like to stay in the 1.5 - 2lbs range per week.

I was pretty fit after 3 years of running and doing the odd bit of circuit training, but last October I started an outdoor bootcamp twice a week - this has REALLY leaned me out. I've dropped no weight, but really gotten "hard" for want of a better word, its been quite remarkable and very obvious since I was at a healthy weight when I started. Having someone push you is sometimes what you need, I'm very self motivated but I would still never work as hard as I do at boot camp.

I was lucky the long, slow cardio thing worked really well for me to lose ALL my weight, it was extremely effective. But when it comes time to ramp things up, which it does for some people sooner than others, then I personally dont think you can beat really hard bootcamp/circuit style workouts that involve hard bodyweight exercises with really intense cardio.

I find it rather expensive at $150 for 10 sessions, but still cheaper than one on one training, which I dont think I really need or want to pay for.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
