Calories, Calories and Calories...

Recommended Posts

Hola! Saludos a todo's!! (Hi! To everyone!!)

I have had a hard time trying to understand the calorie intake and how many calories you have to burn to get the results needed. (Hope that makes sense.) I remember my nutritionist saying that I have to take in a certain amount of calories and in turn burn a certain amount of calories to lose the weight. I have been tracking my calorie intake and I get no more than 500 to 800 calories in per day. However, there are days that I burn at least 500 calories. Am I supposed to burn the equal amount of calories I take in? I'm just a bit confused on the whole calorie intake and calories burned? Hope that makes sense, if not please tell me so. Thanks everyone in advance. :wink2:

hola!

no, u are not supposed to burn the same amount of calories u intake... u need a certain amount of calories in ur body that he burns just with daily activity... so burning 500 a day in a work out is great... the more u burn the more weight u loose, but u dont have to burn all that u intake or u are going to become weak and u dont want that.

Well I spoke to my dietician today and to lose weight and be consistent you should try to eat between 1200-1400 calories and burn 600-700 a day because it takes 3500 calories to burn 1lb. I hope this helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
