:Bunny I just got off the phone with them. I ordered my info pack, with some papers to fill out, when I get that, I'll schedule my 1 on 1 consultation with the Dr., it costs $175. Seminars are optional. Then after the consultation, you schedule your surgery. The $10,500 is for cash/self pay & includes the surgery, tests, etc. & 1 yr of free fills/adjustments!!!:Bunny

Hope this helps other people!

Find out how many Bands this doctor has done. Many docs give a very low price when they are just starting because until a doctor has done more than 100 bands, the complication rate is much higher than later. Cheap is not so cheap if they are very inexperienced and just starting and have no followup and after care problem, and don't know enough to teach you what to do. a port replacement is like $2000 if they puncture it or the port flips becuase the stures were not put in well. It also takes at least 100 fills to start to get a feel for how much is good, and how to read the fluoros.

As I mentioned in another thread, my surgeon, Dr. Thomas Lavin, has a self-pay program for $12,900. As long as you fit the health criteria for outpatient surgery, the $12,900 covers the following:

Surgeon

Hospital (up to a 23 hour stay)

Anesthesiologist

1 year of follow-up care/fills

The initial out-of-pocket visit is $175, which includes the psych evaluation. Any tests (sleep apnea, blood work, etc.) are also out-of-pocket.

From Dr. Lavin's website www.whyweight.com...

"As one of the first 4 U.S. proctors for Inamed Health, he teaches and credentials other surgeons in the placement of the Lap-band device for the treatment of morbid obesity."

Here's the link for his Surgeon Profile on obesityhelp.com. Please note that the number of surgeries he's performed needs to be updated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
