To Fill or not to Fill

Recommended Posts

I have a question for all you bandsters out there. I have a 10cc band and as of now, I am at 6cc's. I am feeling restriction but I am not sure if I am restricted enough. I have went through everything without throwing up and I want to keep it that way. My weight is going down, but not as fast as I would like. I return to my Doctor this week and I am sure they are going to want to do another fill. I am not sure if this is something I want. I want the best out of my band and I want to listen to my Doctor and trust her, but I always want to trust my body and not get to the point to being sick. Any thoughts from you veterans out there. Thanks for your input.

Good luck with your decision, talk it through with your fill person. Better to be a little under than over filled....that is miserable. I am at 6cc in the same band and can only eat a little bit of hard Protein at a time. Of course slider food goes down easy all the time, LOL!!!!

Think about how much hard Protein like beef you can eat. If you can eat it and you stay full for a while, I probably wouldn't get the fill. Now, if you decide you want a little more restriction, you can just ask for .25ccs or even less. If you are feeling some restriction now, that will probably be just right. If youg et the fill and it feel like to much, go get it taken out. I wouldn't do the "wait and see if it loosens up" game.

Weight lose is hard and losing slowly is healthy and good. Can you eat whatever u want or have problems with certain foods. I totally having hard time with healthy Protein and only at 4cc. I think the key is eating less and working out. I got sick and having been able to work out. I see weight lose more the harder I workout. So my advice don't fill but talk doc first he knows best.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
