Does anyone else have pain on the lower side of their abdomen? My pain is on the left side down low. It almost feels like I have been burned-even the skin hurts to touch. I am 2 weeks post op and I seem to have healed very well. My wounds look good, just can't stand for anything to touch my lower left abdomen?

I am a few days post -op and think I am now starting to have the same issue. I go to see the doc on Wednesday so I am hopiing he'll have something good to say. The lower spot seems to hurt when I sit or lay down or stand up. At first I thought it was my incision site, but those are healing up perfectly. My pain is on the right side in the lower middle of my stomach... I'm pretty sure it's port related..... I wonder how long till it goes away.

OMG ME TOO! I had to get a tummy binder to help with the pain i have in the lower left ab area. It feels like somthing wants to fall out or somthing. I get it when walking, sitting, laying down. So basically no relief. It started hurting like 7 day post op. Tylonol doesnt help.

Hey I have the same thing and went to my DR. He said its NORMAL. You were burned... well cauterized. The bands path is up thru belly button area and then it gets dragged thru ur left side to reach your tummy. I am all healed on the outside... on the inside i am TENDER on my left side. My doc told me to buy an abdominal binder to wear when active, like going to work, walking ect. it works. AAlso taking a little liquid Children's Motrin to help with swelling/pain.

He said I will basically hurt there for up to 2 months.

Talked to my doc last week about the pain. He said that is normal. It is like an internal bruise. He said they have to cut muscle and fat to put the port in and that is exactly where I was complaining of soreness. It is getting better. I think I am going to buy one of those stomach binders-see if it helps. I am back working with my trainer-so maybe that would give me some support. Let us know if you find anything else out.

Thanks for asking (and answering) BaseballMom5. I logged on to look for info on this very issue.

For any future readers, I wanted to share that my pain feels more like a muscle cramp than a burn. Also, and it may be because I'm short, my pain is pretty low, right above the left side of my pelvis bone. If I push on it I can feel the pain shoot all the way up my side, almost to my back. Now that I know it's something healing, I'll be more gentle!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
