I had my 3rd fill Wednesday and wow what a difference from the first 2! With the first 2 I had very little restriction and now I have great restriction! I ate all but 2 bites of my lean cuisine yesterday at lunch, and then we went to a chinese buffet for dinner. (I know, I know it's the devil!) But I maybe ate about half a cup of food before I was full! I was so tickled, I used to tear me up some Chinese food. Maybe I am pulling out of Bandster Hell! lol:thumbup:

Hi, I have lost 30 pounds since Sept. 29th.

It was slow going the past couple of month's, but I didn't get frustrated because I knew at some point I would have good restriction. Just reading other post's on here and what other people had been through helped a lot. I am also a firm believer in it took me 20 years to put the weight on, it's not gonna come off over night.

So all and all I feel pretty good about where I am now.

Isn't it wonderful when our band does its job? I'm hoping I've finally hit the sweet spot, but we'll see if this restriction lasts beyond a week or so <crossing fingers>.

I had my 2nd fill and am feeling some restriction. It is great. Hope it does not lessen too quickly. My eyes are still bigger than my stomach and my 'head hunger' is almost as strong as ever. Any help for that?

So glad that you're feeling some restriction! I just had my first fill and go back to mushies tomorrow, solids on Monday and I can't wait to see what kind of restriction I will have. I have about 30 more lbs to go until I'm at my goal, so I'm hoping that one fill will do it. It's been all will power up until now though.

My fingers are crossed for you that the restriction lasts :-)!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
