Hi All!

I am 3 days post op and am having trouble getting the Protein shakes down. Just wondering if I could add a half of a banana and maybe a tbsp of Peanut Butter to say like a myoplex Protein shake. I figure if I blend it til it's all liquified it should be ok right?? Does anyone have any suggestions??

i add half a banana to mine and it seems to be no problem. i put it in a blender though. also, try adding a little bit of pudding. it makes the shake taste SO much better.

what kind of Protein are you using at the moment?

i would suggest going to Walmart, getting jillian michaels whey Protein. you get a tub for 10 bucks and its pretty good.

do you add Water or milk when you mix it?

heres what we do

jillian michaels vanilla whey protein + ice + milk + pudding + half a banana = some good stuff!

I actually have been just drinking the EAS Myoplex lite Protein shakes. The taste is just getting monotonous. My husband is an avid fitness person and he makes his Protein Shakes in the blender like this:

12 ounces skim milk, whatever fruit we may have, 2 scoops of Protein powder and maybe some Peanut Butter.

I was thinking, I know I'm not supposed to have solid foods, but if I put a Myoplex shake, 1/2 banana, and a tbsp of Peanut Butter in the blender, it will liquify it!

Thanks for your help!

When were you banded?

yeah, it will liquify it. i can't say i've ever heard of that type of Protein shake so i can't help you on the taste there.

you should be good if you add that. how much longer are you on liquids?

& i was banded on the 5th of this month.

My vote is for GNC pro performance, with one cup skim milk it has 28g of Protein in it and under 200 calories. It tastes great and is not gritty at all. Comes in choc, straw, banana, Cookies and cream, cappachino, caramel and many more! Reasonably priced too!

My doc would let us add 1/4 cup fruit as long as you pureed it 'til smooth. The only reason I survived those nasty shakes was by adding SF Jello and/or SF pudding...add ice and blend 'til smooth and it's almost not terrible! Enjoy!

Get FROZEN fruit. It makes the shakes creamier.

Add Yogurt. Add pudding (SF). Use Coconut milk and chocolate soy milk.

Use unjury or BSN powder (great taste and BSN has Cinnamon Roll flavor)

BSN Lean Dessert Protein shake Fresh Cinnamon Roll - 1.39 Lbs. - LuckyVitamin.com

You don't have to suffer with bad Protein. It can be real good if you choose right.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
