When will I really start to see the weight come off? I was banded on 12/17. I have lost 16lbs. My first fill is on 1/26.I am not eating anything like I use to .Will I see a difference after the 1st fill?

Everbody is different. My experience was that the first fill worked for 2-3 days and then I was back to normal. I had my second fill Mon. and it lasted a little longer (5 days) and had a more significant effect on my hunger. My doctor said to call if the hunger came back so i did. I go in for another fill in about 2 weeks.

Kim,

Fills will not cause you to lose weight. Only reducing your calories and/or increasing your activity will do that. The only thing the fill will do...when you get to restriction...is to give you that full feeling and keep you feeling full longer.

I never got the temporary restriction after my first 2 fills. After my third, I had a temporary restriction for about 2 weeks. Then it was gone. I went in yesterday for another fill of .5 cc and I have some restriction again. Before I could drink with my meals if I wanted (yes I know that's a no-no). Now, I can't even take a sip of Water during a meal without sliming or getting stuck. It's almost as if the Water moves the things I've eaten around, causing a blockage. I also feel full again after a small meal.

The tech said it's probably only temporary, but I'll take what I can get and I have another appointment in 2 weeks just in case I need a bit more fill.

.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
