bernadette 0 Posted October 27, 2005 We all know how many grams of Protein we should have. What about carbs? What is a good amount and what are they?
Jachut 487 Posted October 27, 2005 I dont know about actual amounts, I really dont want to live my life counting grams of this or that but if you stick with good quality unprocessed low GI carbs rather that processed white stuff you'll be right.
Alexandra 55 Posted October 27, 2005 That's a good answer.
StephanieRaye 0 Posted October 27, 2005 I've heard carbs should make up 50-55% of your daily intake.
Carrie22803 0 Posted October 28, 2005 I think around 40g a day is good. It really depends on the person. In a low-carb diet, like Atkins, you are supposed to have less than 20g per day for 2 weeks, then slowly add them back in until you stop losing weight, then you know how many grams you should eat. I think most people are between 40-60grams a day. I don't know if this helps....
the best me 6 Posted October 28, 2005 Check out www.room42.com and put in your info...it will give you the breakdown for fat, carbs, protien and calories for weight loss for your size and frame. Very handy.
Guest queenzed Posted October 29, 2005 It is best to consume 50% of carbs compared to your protien intake. So if you eat 80 grams of protien, eat 40 grams of carbs. If you eat 120 grams of protien, eat 60 grams of carbs. Megan
vinesqueen 2 Posted October 29, 2005 Carbs are very difficult for me to get in, what with the "eat protien first, veggies second followed by carbs if there is room." Well, with this 4th fill, I'm not getting much in the way of carbs. The nutritionist I saw last week said 25 grams of Fiber a day. (hello Benifiber!) That is the magic number needed to promote colon health. I'm trying to work in more carbs into my diet though, since that is the prefered food for the nervous system and brain.
