Feel like I don't even have the band

Recommended Posts

Ok.. so i was banded Nov 23rd. i have lost only 15 lbs so far. In about 1 week it will be 2 mths since banding and I feel like i don't even have the band. I still eat whatever I want basically.. granted portions are slightly smaller.. but even so, my weight loss is at a complete stand still. I am only blaming myself because I dont always chose the right food choices.. but i do for the most part eat better and less. This week i have been starving!! and i can get anything down sooooo thats not good. I really am determined to work at this.. but my tool ain't co-operating with me so far.. lol. If I were atleast a little less hungry and full a lot faster, I know it would be cake for me. I guess it's because I may be one of those people that need A LOT of restriction to suceed. right now I have a 12 CC band and 3.5 CC's of Fluid. Any suggestions, Idea's, words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!!

Oh do you sound like me. :tt1: I'm just past 2 months out and I've only lost 16 lbs since surgery. I did feel restriction with my first fill but I'm still not loosing much. I started feeling less restriction this past week but I'm still keeping my food intake under control. I also started to exercise with the Wii Active and still nada.

I'm going back for a second fill end of February and I've also spoken to a former co-worker who had the band done and she said it took a few months before it really started to happen for her. She's lost about 100 lbs in a little over 1 year. So here's hoping it will start falling off for us.

wow. good to know i am not the only one. hahah. we really do have very similar cases here. It's almost like once you get close to a month after a fill, you start going hungry again.. very strange. i get my next fill on the 27th of this month.. can't wait!! i guess i need to be more patient. I need to start working out too. the Wii fit is not active enough, i will have to look into the EA active one. although my best bet is to join Lucille Roberts.. they have classes that kick your a$$.. hahaha.

thanks for the feedback. and good luck on your loss!!

but you know it's really common to even gain weight until you get the right restriction, right?

I have GAINED weight . My surgery was 12/16 and the Dr won't do a fill for 6 weeks (1/29) and I can eat pretty much whatever. Again like you it is in smaller portions, but not much smaller (unless I force myself to maintain portion control). I lost 19lbs with pre-op and my first week with the band--since then I have gained 2lbs. I am exercising as well. SO FRUSTRATING!!! Praying it gets better

Please hang in there it will be well worth it. Write down what you are eating. Eat slow and do not drink while you are eating. You will get there.

I am at 6 mo mark and have only lost 31. I use a LOT of willpower! restriction only last a couple of days. I have 7.5cc in a 14 cc. band. I'm going in tomorrow to talk with someone about my game plan. Just keep a good relationship with your medical team. Don't give up. Good luck.

Hi folks,

I see some things in the posts that worry me and make me wonder if you've familiarized yourself with fills and the need for your stomach/surgery sites to heal before fills.

Dragonfly..sounds like you need slight fill again. Are you able to contact your provider to get one? If you're "starving" between meals it could be a few things 1. are you drinking enough Water? Sometimes are bodies feel as if they are hungry when in actuallity we're actually thirsty. Try drinking some Water and waiting 30 minutes to see if it's true hungry or thirst, 2. are you eating too many sweets. (God believe me I have to fight that one..chocoholic here.) Sweets although taste great and go down easy for the most part unfortunately, cause us to crave more and to feel hungry. Not quite sure how that works but when you eat them you crave them more and/or 3. you've lost enough weight to make your band lose again and/or the swelling from surgery has gone completely down. Definitely call your provider...let them know how you're feeling and ask if a fill is for you :( I wish you the best!

Hi Chickadee...Many surgeons won't give a person a fill until they are 6-8 weeks out. Mainly because when the band is put in the surgical sites need to heal plus they actually fold a part of your stomach over the band so that the band can be held in place, and stitch it to your stomach. So kinda like a hinge for the band. Those stitches are on your stomach so if you eat too much and/or the band is too tight it forces your stomach to churn to digest the food. That churning movement could cause your stitches to pull instead of heal. So as hard as it is it's worth the wait  Good luck.

I hope I helped a bit! Good luck on your banded weightloss journeys.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
