Everyone is welcome!

Where: Polaris Mall food Court

When: Saturday February 13, 2010

Time: 2 p.m.

Look for us near the entrance to the Great Indoors store in the back corner seating area next to Chik-Fil-A. If we're not there look for a large group of folks sitting at several tables pushed together in the areas on either side of the Great Indoors... that's usually us :-)

Hope to see you there!

My replacement BodyBugg just came Friday and I had it on charging yesterday and plan to get it going today with the help line guy. So I should also have my info by the 13th to share. I have to tell you, while it was not working I have gotten hooked on using the DailyPlate food and exercise tracker so I am not sure which I will keep using for the food tracking for Calories Eaten vs Calories Burned.

Oh Yay! I have something similar to the body bugg and I'd love to compare. I haven't found anyone else that uses them yet.

Kath,

I am still using The Daily Plate and then transfering the calorie counts to the BB site because their journal sucks IMO. What I did was set up a generic food called Calorie (x10) and made it worth 10 calories. Then I use 12 servings of that to journal 120 calories worth of food etc... by keeping it at 10 calories I didn't have to fill out the fat/sodium or other fields on the form. It's worked great. TDP tracks my nutrients and I can journal from my phone, and I can still see my numbers as far as deficit and burn on the BB site.

BTW... 3 days in and I'm down 4.4 pounds! Whoo!

Oh and I was wondering if you'd be willing to let me try your wrist display for a week or so (if you can bear to part with it) at some point so I can decide if I want to spend the $80 to buy it. I keep getting mixed reviews from all of my reading as to whether it's worth it.

Also, I did add you on a private email on FB for my friends with the BB... not sure if you got any of the messages or not.

Melissa... do you have the Go Wear Fit?

Yep, I sure do. I have had it for about two or three months now. I like it but it took me a little while to get the targets right. I don't upload my food into their journal either I use an app on my iphone to track daily calories and just enter the total at the end of the day. Much easier. I'll have to check out the Daily Plate, several folks have recommended and my little sis was looking for something online to use.

Hello to all my snowbound Columbus lapband friends...okay so it isn't that bad but I still think we should check in here on Saturday before noon-ish to see what the weather holds for us if the next storm comes thru and makes for more shoveling out.

I don't think the weather will be a factor at all. We're not supposed to get any more snow until Sunday/Monday or later. Forcast is for very cold but sunny! I'm ready for a snow break!

See you Saturday!!!

I'll be there too! Can't wait to meet everyone in person. If I'm late look for the confused looking black girl wandering about the food court!

It was GREAT meeting all of you today! As someone who hasn't yet been banded a year, it was truly inspiring meeting those banders who have been successful and gaining their wisdom and advice.

Jo and I are looking forward to seeing you all again next month!

Hi Special K! Would you please send me another Yahoo Invite? I didn't realize that the invite would be in the Spam folder and I deleted it. Thanks!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
