Feeling hopeless

Recommended Posts

I feel like a failure. I made it to a size 6 and 149lbs only to skyrocket back to 180lbs and a tight 12 over the last 8months. Im misrible and dont know what to do. Im back to the same old yo-yo habits of eating really really healthy only to breakdown and eat like crap. Trying to get back into a workout routine, started the Jillian Michaels 30day shread hoping that will help. Anyone in the same boat as me? Any advice would be helpful, feel like im failing yet again. I made another appointment with Dr Spiegle to see if maybe my band is too lose, but I know part of it is a mental thing.

Maybe you should have a fill. Are you consuming a lot of liquid calories. That just seems like a lot of weight, if you have a good adjustment. I do yo-yo too...about 15-20lbs, so I understand how you feel when some of the weight comes back on and I see numbers on the scale that I thought I said good-bye to forever!

You should see your surgeon at least once every 6 months after you reach goal. You may, indeed, need a small fill.

Journal every bite you put in your mouth. Nobody's going to read it, so you're only cheating yourself if you can't even admit what you're eating. I recommend writing down the time of day as well. Give it a week. Then really closely review. You may see a pattern for a time of day when you are at your weakest and giving in to eating improperly. Figure out the reason....are you having to go too long between meals, only to eat anything you can lay your hands on once you are around food? Do you snack after dinner because you're sitting on the couch, watching TV? You get the idea. Then address the situations one at a time. Maybe you need a small Protein snack in that long gap between meals or maybe you need something else besides television to truly keep your mind off the junk in the kitchen.

I find that by working out consistently, I am less likely to blow it and eat things I shouldn't. I mean who wants to work out all the time then eat chips or pizza? It really defeats the purpose. Try making yourself work out for at least 45 minutes everyday and see if you tend to stick to eating healthier then. This keeps me on track.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
