Am I in bandser hell?

Recommended Posts

I had my 3rd fill on Dec 9, and am due to get my 4th fill on Jan 20. My problem is that I have not lost a single pound since the 9th! Am I in bandster hell? I've already lost 50 of the 100 pounds I need to lose...Any ideas?

Ummm, are you hungry? I'd say that's awesome weight loss, but if you're suffering with hunger, then yes, you're in bandster hell.

My understanding of bandster hell is really the time between the surgery when your body is healing and your first fill when you have extreme hunger. I know I've been in it (and still am), since I am 3 months post op and just having my first fill tomorrow :-(!

Sometimes the weight levels off a bit and you need to play with your calories. Some days I do 800, some days I do 1000 so my body doesn't get used to a certain number and starts holding onto it if I stay on the low end. Are you exercising? Believe me, I hate it, but when the scale stops moving, I try to exercise a little more and that gets it moving again.

Hope this helps! Great job on losing half the weight you need to! That's an awesome accomplishment!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
