Ok, I have a read a bunch about what you can eat when you are banded but here is my question. I eat a lot of top ramen... yes the cheap stuff for college students lol.. I really love it! Since ti is noodles and liquid, is that not something I should eat when I am banded? I know you aren't supposed to drink while eating so it seems like a bad idea... but I need to know what some veteran bandsters think?? I would hate to lose my top ramen but if I need to I will!

LOL!

Funny you should ask. I just had a cup O’Noodles for lunch.< /span>

Probably not the healthiest option ever, but according to WW it’s only 6 points and it actually holds me for hours. I do eat it sometimes when I’m craving something salty and warm.

I’d only say don’t eat it because it’s full of fat and salt. J Please keep in mind though I’ve been banded almost 2 years now. I would not eat it shortly after surgery.

WELL it is good to know that I may get to have it *sometimes* at least... I am trying to get through my top ramen and cup noodles stash before surgery lol! My favorite meal right now is a cup noodles with some hot sauce in it, eat all the noodles, then put a baked potato in the leftover juice and mush it up!! Weird I know but MMMMMM.. very good lol

The only thing I would see wrong with it is it is pure starch/carbs and you need Protein to stay full and lose weight and adding a potato to it, even worse. Carbs and Portion Control is what gets me fat in the first place.

One of the lapband rules I was given is "no pasta."

Even without the rule, with a tight band (at sweet spot), I have a very hard time eating any type of noodles/pasta. When I am so limited with the amount of food I can eat at one time, I try to choose more nutritional stuff if I can.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
