Anyone out there have Cigna Insurance?

Recommended Posts

I have Cigna insurance and am worried I will not get approved.

My BMI is 40.5; but, has not been that for a consecutive 2 years. I may have 1.5 years at 40 BMI; but, not 2 years.

Did you have problems getting approved? How long did it take? I have already done by 6 mth diet and there was a month or two that I gained a little. Is this going to be a problem?

Concerned,

Quinny:confused:

Hello I have CIGNA and it's been a real pain in my ass! LOL! I've started all this back in August I should have been done by this month, but the nutritionist my surgeon assigned me too kept canceling my appts! NOT HAPPY so that pushed to March/April. But other then that I won't know the rest until the submit my stuff. I don't see why I wouldn't get approved - my BMI is 45. Good luck!

I have Cigna HMO and had no trouble. I did a 6 month monitored weight loss with my doctor in 2009. He recived and referred me to my surgeron in 10/2009. I went to the seminar, saw my surgeron, and atteneded 2 pre op classes in November and was approved in December. I had my Lap Band yesterday )

I also submitted to my insurance a letter from me on why I wanted to be banded, record from my doctor for my weight over the last 5 years. A list of diets I have tried in the past, and a calander with the exercises I did while on my 6 month diet.

I was very lucky It was approved on the first try. My BMI is 42.5.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
