I had the seminar and initial consultation with the surgeon yesterday, and I have a tentative date of 03.26 for my surgery!! I'm so excited. He worked with me to schedule it around my Spring Break.

I went to the first psych visit, and I have my second one next week. I had the first of three dietitian consultations. The surgeon wants me to lose 15 pounds. (I thought, for sure, he'd say 30!!) I am SO pumped and motivated right now. :smile2:

Congratulations. You are lucky that you only have to wait until March. My insurance made me wait for 6 months. But the wait was well worth it. You will be amazed. Good luck on your journey and keep us posted on your progress. We will save you a seat on the losers bench.:)

Congrats Toni!

I'm just curious how long did it take for you to get a surgery date from when you had your initial consultation? I have just started the process...

My surgeon scheduled the date during the initial consultation. I'm not sure whether that's the norm, and it's all contingent on my losing the 15 pounds, of course. But he scheduled the date based on my insurance requirements and the clinic's requirements.

Toni- Thanks for the info! I'll just have to go through the process and see what happens.

Does anyone know if having multiple co-morbilites something that the insurance company takes into higher consideration over several attemps to loose wieght?

I have try countless times and tried programs like Jenny Craig. I have also taken Phentramine, Metabolife, Herbalife. I have lost weight at times, but my appetite and Portion Control has always won.

I was told that multiple co-morbids definitely help! I have hypertension, borderline diabetes, and joint pain. Plus, the medication I'm taking for hypertension is taking all of my potassium, so I also have a potassium deficiency. I'll be so glad to get weaned from all the meds.

Please keep us posted. Good luck!!

Congrats Tori on the surgery date!!! I got mine during my consult also!

I noticed your date of March 15th, that was my original banding date, but they backed it up to the Friday after my nursing final so that I'd have time off before I had to go back for the last mini-semester. So we will be very close as my date is March 12th----we'll have to keep in touch!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
