banded in 2009 and pregnant with twins

Recommended Posts

I was banded in February 2009 and now I am 23 weeks pregnent with identical twins girls. My hubby and I couldn't be more thrilled about the girls, but I am not so thrilled about my expanding tummy again. Prior to getting pregnant I had lost about 60 lbs. Now, 23 weeks into prengnancy I have gained about 22 lbs. I now this is mostly baby weight, but I am beginning to think that I need to really start looking at my food choices and quanitites that I am eating. My surgeon doesn't remove any saline unless I feel that I need it so I am still at the same fill level as pre-pregnancy. Any one out there have any advise on the amount of calories they did or are eating while being pregnant with twins. Any advise GREATLY appreciated!:smile2:

When you're pregnan with one baby you just need to add 300 calories a day and when you are carrying multiples you need to add only about 600 extra calories a day. Good luck and congrats! I hope all goes well for you!

It has been SO long since I have logged into this site that I couldnt believe I remembered my password  I came across your post this afternoon while searching pregnant with twins LAP-BAND® on google. Like you, I am expecting twin girls. I'm 20w3d today and am not at all happy with the weight creeping up.

I've been banded since late 2005, lost 60 lbs at the most (still needed to lose another 50) and gained back 20 of the 60 over the years. Now that I'm pg, I'm up an additional 17 lbs. and gaining daily :)

I have a big fill in my band and am finding it very hard to eat solids until the evening, and then I'm very, very loose and can eat a ton. Are you seeing the same thing? I did not get an unfill when I found out I was pregnant, and now that I'm measuring 27 weeks, I'm too nervous to have a needle anywhere near my uterus.

Ask you OBGYN what daily caloric intake they want you to have. My friend was told she could keep her fill completely and she did as long as she could consume 1800 calories from nutritious food per day. That was with ONE baby. Please just ask your doc and then go from there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
