Pain After Being Stuck?

Recommended Posts

Last night I had some green Beans and did not chew them enough I assume because I started sliming and was in pain. Eventually the food made its way up but I'm very sore. I'm sticking to liquids and applesauce but I was wondering if others usually feel sore after an episode and how long it lasted?

Yes pain after "getting stuck" or "PBing" happens....

My question is why you would go to eating apple sauce? That is usually high sugar and no Protein....I usually go back to Protein shakes, greek yougurt, cottage cheese...things like that.

Thanks. I did actually eat cottage cheese as my main thing this morning. I tested the Water with natural applesauce before i attempted the cottage cheese just to make sure since it's less chunky. I brought a Protein drink for lunch so I should be good there.

This is a great reminder that I have the band and just because I could eat it before my fill last week doesn't mean I can eat it now.

After a bad episode, I can be sore for a couple of days. I stick with easy things until it is feeling better.

Sometimes, I can't even identify what it is I did to cause the stickage. Most times though, it is pilot error.

Feeling much better today but sticking to soft Proteins like scrambled eggs. Warm liquids did seem to help so going to keep drinking them throughout the day. Threw out the sauteed string Beans because mentally I don't think I want to face them again for a while.

I do the same after a bad stuck episode, a day of liquids, a day of soft Proteins, etc. My doc's office said we do the most damage by rushing back to solids too quick. I can be sore in my band area as well for a while after a bad episode and like you, I don't want to see the food that resulted in it for quite a while - even though it usually wasn't the food, but me! It's definitely aversion therapy.

I wrote athread yesterday about getting things stuck,

I wrote that I got something stuck and threw it up and that was on jan 20 and went to liquids until jan 22 then ate some cottage cheese and it was okay then next morning took sip of Protein drink felt like it was not going down but it did then hour later took sip of apple juice, well didn't stay down and haven't been able to keep any liquids down it is very very sore between my breast (the inside) I am guessing very swollen from throwing up I have had things before and normally my dr take some out and then yells out me cause he thinks it is from over eating alot times it is not my brain tells I hungry and my band tells me no. any help or suggestions please.:scared2::cursing:

Ironically I had my first "stuck" experience on Wednesday as well. I waited too long to eat and I was starving so I ate too fast. I could not believe the pain! Then the next evening I was eating an omlet and the same thing happened, then the next morning I was eating my usual egg and it happened again. I finally called the nurse she said to do the liquids for 2 days which I did. I feel that hot liquids help "heal" my stomach faster so I drink broth. I have found the following things help me......

I have found that I can not eat first thing in the morning. I usually have a cup of coffee (black) or hot tea and then 30 min. or so later I can eat.

Another thing that has helped me is cutting my food into pieces that are the size of my smallest fingernail or if it is a soft food then I put only that amount on the spoon, less than you would give a baby. I have to take 4 bites then wait at least 60 seconds before I can take another bite.

If your Dr yells at you, maybe you should find someone who is more your style. Remember, you are the customer, you are the one who pays his salary. You dont need him to sugar coat anything but he should understand every body has differences.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
