Constant Vomiting - please help with ideas

Recommended Posts

I was banded in May 2006. I have had bouts of vomiting in the past and I usually found that it was due to being tight because of my period or because of my band being too tight. I would normally just drink liquids for a day and be fine.

I had an un-fill in Nov and I had been doing fine and able to eat without issue up until this past Tuesday. I had a late dinner Monday night and woke up and had to vomit. Something was stuck, which is weird because I had only eaten soft foods. Since then (6 days now), I have not been able to keep down liquids. I have always been able to keep down liquids, but now I am throwing up Protein Shakes and milk. Luckily, some of it has gone down, because I have still been urinating.

I called my doctor and am hoping that he will see me tomorrow, but I was hoping some of you out there have some suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I had the same thing going on this past week, but its happened before. I couldn't keep a teaspoon of Water down. I threw up everyday all day for a week. My eyes got so yellow and my skin became pale because I was so dehydrated. My surgeon took all the Fluid out of my band and 2 days ago he put 2cc's back. He said It was to tight, but its happened before, so I am still a little worried. I hope you feel better.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
