Hey All,

My name is Myra and I am a new bander. I had my lap-band done on Dec 31, 2009... Way to keep a New Year's resolution. I am a week and two days into it and have just started on my mushy food stage. I am feeling pretty good about my decision, but had you asked me a week ago, I would've had a different answer. I seem to have the itchiest port hole ever!! I had some Fluid behind it, but I think that's starting to heal itself. Other than that I have been a model patient. I started my journey at 243lbs, in Sept 2009, which is when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I am now down to 214.2lbs as of this morning. My pre-pre-op diet weight was 239, then I lost 11lbs before surgery. I have since dropped 14lbs before my first fill. I am not do for a feel until Feb. I am excited. It looks like I can be under 200lbs before my 32nd birthday, in March!!

Congratulations on your surgery and on your weight loss. You sound like you are well on your way. Stick to the plan that the doctor gave you and you will be a huge success. Looking forward to hearing your success stories.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
