Talking about the journey....

Recommended Posts

I write a blog. It's not a weight loss blog or a fat blog or anything. It's a life blog, it attempts to be clever and entertaining. Occasionally, it even hits the mark.

Because it's a life blog, it has often touched on this aspect of my life - the weight struggle. The decision to have surgery.

Today is the first day I posted about this topic since having my surgery last May. With photos!!

I don't know if it would be of any interest to anyone, but I figure there are people here who are at various places in their own journeys and maybe it would be, so for that reason, I invite those who wish to come visit. I'm Just Linda, and you can find me here: Nothing to See Here…

To each of you, wherever you may be on your own journey, best of luck.

Congradulations on a job will done Linda. I was wondering how you were doing with the weight loss and all the travel you have been doing as well. Iam steady at 175 for a while now and in good shape. I did get a fill of .2cc in Nov. doctor says he does not think I need any more fills. If I did get a fill I would have problems.

The travel is still a challenge. Fortunately, our budget always runs dry at the end of the year so it was a light travel schedule October-December. Now I'm facing a new year and I have several trips planned. We'll see how it goes.

I am fitting in exercise when I travel. Even if it means going to the fitness room at 10PM. I'm doing things like taking the stairs up to my room (even when on the 8th or 10th floor of the hotel). Stuff like that. So I feel like I have that side under control. It's easier when I'm not so bogged down with weight, when I'm not so tired all the time.

The eating is still a challenge when I have these trips... so much food, often I'm not in full control of the selection (i.e. when lunch is brought in, I'm stuck with choosing from whatever is there). I have done pretty well. I actually had my first trip where I LOST over the course of the trip, so that was exciting.

I'm at a 3.2 fill and I think this is my sweet spot. I'll ride it out for a bit... I can't imagine going tighter - this one keeps me on my toes. LOL

Hope you are doing well! 175... sounds about perfect to me. :w00t:

I love reading blogs that include personal experience with the band, so thank you.

Also, I'm a vegetarian but "Santa knows I love meat, Mommy" just cracked me up :( She's too adorable!

Smitten, you can tell your own story here or read many others. There is a blogging section on this site. It is not as organized and as easy to navigate as Linda's but there are some good ones there as well.

The "BLOG" link is in the top left, next to "HOME".

I read tons of blogs when I was considering and planning for my surgery. That's why I wanted to share my back.

Well, that and because I'm a bit of an attention whore. Ahem. LOL

And a talented writer. :(

It takes a lot to put your thoughts into words that everyone will understand.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
