I was banded on 10/23/09. My surgery was at 11:30 am and I was home by 4:00 pm that afternoon. To me surgery was the easy part, it was the two week liquid diet that was the hardest. I did stick to it though. Your restriction will go away once the swelling goes down, but be patient. I didn't have good restriction until my 2nd fill. My first fill was on December 7th and I just had my 2nd fill on January 4th. I am down 27 lbs. and feel really great. I have a ways to go but it is a start. Just know that we all will get to where we need to be as far as restriction goes. If you are feeling hungry alot or you have stop losing weight, don't hesitate to get a fill. The ball is in our court and we have to stay on top of things. I'm excited about 2010 because there is alot to Celebrate. I hope to be down 100 lbs by my 1 year LapBand anniversary. Good luck to you all!

Thanks, I needed that. My banding was on 12-30 and today is hard. I'm hungry and the fluids are just not cutting it. I have not ever had restriction and that scares me a little. I am excited about the future and am taking baby steps. One good day at a time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
