So scared and worried/HELP!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've done a terrible thing and i'm so scared to go back to the Dr. I have an 8 year old daughter. She has a serious heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart has had 3 open heart surgeries. The stress with all that led me to the weight i was. (252) Also her father passed away while i was pregnant. So i've done this alone without him. I am a stress eater.

Well she was hopitalized on Dec 26th with some lung issues and stayed 9 days. Well we all know how hard it is to get good food while in the hospital. My nerves got the best of me on day 4 when they were talking about surgery. Long story short i've gained 7 lbs back.:)

I go back for another fill on the 13th. What will he think of me what will happen? Will i have to loose that weight before he fills me agin? I'm so scared to go in there i've thought about canceling the appointment. I'm so embarassed to show my face.:smile2:

Help what should i do?

Hi:

Please don't cancel your appointment. Your doctor should be understanding if you've been under that kind of stress and if he doesn't, go find another doctor. Don't be afraid to tell him about the circumstances and tell him that you want to refocus on your band now that you're past the chaos. It sounds like your daughter is out of the hospital. Now it's time to focus on getting back on track. I'm guessing that you're not at your sweet spot yet, so please go get that fill and go back to doing things the bandster way.

I hope life gets easier for you.

Sue

I agree with Sue.......DO NOT CANCEL your appt. Explain the situation to your Doc. He will understand.

You definitely need a fill and it will help you get on track. Eat slow and chew, chew chew........

Good luck with the LP and your daughter's illness.

actually, you are paying him, so you dont need to explain, if you were perfect, you wouldnt need the band in the first place. go into this confident and expecting him to help you with a fill.

you will get what you need, just be strong. Glad to hear all is ok now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
