BRRRRrrrrrRRRR!!!

Course, it might just be Ma Nature trying to balance out the Hot Air being generated in DC....

It would need to get quite a bit colder than -35 degrees windchill, Jack.:smile2:

Teddy K is dead and the cold air that was supposed to balance him is freezing the nation. :smile2:

Hehehe, my BIL and SIL just arrived home from 2 and a half years in Canada, home to sunny Melbourne. Its our long holidays right now, we spent the day with them yesterday at the beach, a balmy 30 degree day - oh, sorry, that's 30 degrees CELCIUS, up around 90 or so, glorious. We're all brown, healthy, and relaxed.

Dont want to rub it in or anything.

Coz it will be winter here mid year. When it gets down to oh, maybe 10 degrees celcius on a cold day!

They loved Canada for many reasons but there was 2 things that did their heads in, the freezing climate and the lack of decent coffee.

We've got enough of our own hot air of other varieties, so no change there.

We're not doing too badly here in sunny southern California! I didn't wear a jacket to work today!

I have a cousin who used to live in Chicago, and when I told her I'd love to spend some time in the winter with her, she said, "No you wouldn't."

I know! This is thread hijacking, lol, but we were all romantic about a white Christmas too. The last day they were in Edmonton, jut before Christmas the only colder place on the planet was some town in Siberia, lol.

whereas, on our victorian ski fields, you generally can ski in a tshirt. Once you're active, the 1 degree celcius temps dont require real snow gear. All the snow gear BIL and SIL bought here before they went was useless, they had to buy real stuff in Canada.

I prefer Hell over this any time!!

When I attended Holy Rosary School at a very impressionable age, those nuns told me HELL was sizzling HOT. Now, TX in the summer would be hell to me.

We get about 30 days a year with a high over 100 F (38C) a year but the swimming pool is always refreshing.

Our summers are usually with at least that many days in the 90's with high humidity...land of 10,000 lakes.

Just sent my donation for the "Polar Plunge" that will take place tomorrow. Sponsoring a nephew that will participate. Proceeds go to Special Olympics. No worries though...we are expecting a "Warm Front" to move in tomorrow. Temps over zero. Woohoo!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
