I acutally left the hospital the day I was banded with the stomach flu. It was awful but I didn't have any problems with slippage.

Call your doc now and get an Rx today. I always suggest that people not leave the hospital without this Rx. You don't want to start heaving in the middle of the night and have to try getting in touch with your doc. I get Migraines (sometimes with bad nausea) and have had to use mine twice since banding and I was so glad I had those little pills. Being newly banding is definitely a risky time to be vomiting before the stiches on your band have healed. -BG

Okay, you have your doctors word that everything is okay. Now, make sure you do what you can to stay well yourself.

Good luck.

Prior to surgery, my doc gave me a prescription of scopolamine (sp?) Patches (anti-nausea) to wear. There were lots more in the box than I needed just for the surgery. He said any time I feel nausea coming on, to put on one. He extended the prescription for a year, as he said that you want to avoid vomiting at all costs.

In fact, he said if I were to get a bad stomach flu, to come in right away and he'd remove all the fill, so that the chances of slippage is drastically reduced. Of course, right now I have no fill, but this was for future reference.

I have not been banded, yet, but hate the stomach flu with a passion. What I do whenever the kids start getting the yucks is cut out all food and drink for the next 24 - 48 hours. If there is nothing there to vomit, I'm able to fight it off better. You might also want to consider Dramamine. A friend recommended it to me the last time I had it and it sent everything "south". (Sorry for the TMI)

Of course, I think nothing is better than anti-nausea meds that the doc could prescribe. LOL!

Same thing happened to me, within 3 days of my surgery, all 3 kids were puking. It started with a birthday party and about five hotdogs unloaded in the shower, lol.

I turn into a germ freak (which I'm not normally). I dont touch ANYTHING. Fifty cans of glen 20 round the house, spray everything before I sit on it, in it, etc, spray toilets, light switches, use gloves to handle laundry, then bleach the washing machine doors, touch pad etc, bleach the entire toilet after every vomit, use about 600 pairs of disposable gloves throughout the process.

Oh and panic that you had them on your lap kissing them only two days ago, obsess over every twinge in your body, convince yourself you're feeling sick etc.

I also keep anti nausea medication to hand. We've had about four bouts of this over the four years and I've not caught it once.

I'm returning to teaching this year though, ugh. Lets see how I go.

I contacted my doc when my daughter barfed on my bedroom floor a couple months ago and started feeling bad the next day and had to get on a plane at 4 pm. The nurses there had no idea about doing an unfill, prescribing meds, nothing and said to call my general physician. Not a help. I had Zofran (an anti-emetic) leftover from pregnancy a few years back and was able to ward off the pukies, but it was amazing that my doc does nothing in these situations. I have a few Zofran pills left and they are like gold to me! My husband took two when he started feeling bad and I scolded him because you only need one...:smile2:

Forgot--the purpose of my post was to see how you are feeling today??

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
