Hey Setagirl, how's your band going?

Hi, Pandagirl...

The band is going great. I've lost 92 pounds so far.

Oh that sounds great!!! Good job. How close are you to your goal?

I'm not sure. Dr. Machado thinks I should weigh about 140 - most of my friends are thinking about 175. Right now, I'm at 235..... So, I've got a ways to go yet, but it is fun wearing smaller sizes and it's nice that everything isn't a 3x anymore.

How tall are you? I'm 5'10" and my regular Dr. thinks my optimal wieght is 175. Dr. Machado asked me to shoot for 200. I figure I''ll probably be carrying around 20 pounds of skin so....eww, that just icked me. Anyway, sorry to pound you with the questions. I think I'm too curious sometimes. 175, 140, either way you've already done a great job. :)

Thanks. I'm only 5'3", but I'll be 62 years old in September, so it's not like I'm shooting for a bikini or something. I know what you mean about the loose skin, though. My arms are the worst so far. And, my face - I hate when I look in the mirror to put on make up. I feel like I look like Tammy Fay Baker just before she died. Ewwwwww.

Don't go Tammy Fay!!! You know 62 isn't what it used to be. Don't fall for the old hype. You probably don't need as much make up as you think, too. But yeah, the loose skin is hard to deal with. We all have to do it and we're all going to be better for it. (And screw the world. If you want a bikini do it!)

Hello Sacramento Area Bandsters---

I am scheduled for surgery on March 25th. My surgeon is Dr. Waldrep with SALSA. On Saturday my husband and I are attending the support group for Waldrep. According to their staff they can have 50-70 in attendance. Is anyone else seeing Dr. Waldrep?

Michelle

I am starting the process with Waldrep, in my first meeting there were less than 30 people. How are you doing? I would like to find a support group actually IN Sacramento, not a surrounding area, anyone body know of one?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
