Info on the first few months after being band

Recommended Posts

Well I got some great news yesterday. I have been approved and now I am scheduled for February 1st. I am so excited and nerves. I am mostly nerves since right now I am in the middle of interviewing for a new job and I am worried about the chance of starting a new job in February and learning to live with a band.

I 100% understand the lifestyle change and watching what and how I eat once I have the surgery. But I am wondering how hard of an adjustment it was for everyone that has already been banded. How much emotional or physical stuff did you go through the first few months after? Is it possible to adjust to the band and a new job?

Not sure about the new job, but after I was off 10 days (I timed it to coincide with Christmas so rather than 5 days off work I was off 10 days - including weekends). Once I was back to work, I was fine. I am watching the clock so I don't drink too soon after eating, but it's going well.

You know yourself the best. If you think you'd have a hard time learning the ins and out of both your band and a new job at the same time, perhaps you should get the job first, then have the band later, or vice versa.

Good luck!

Yes it is possible to adjust to the band and a new job. Being banded only means you must eat slower, eat less and eat healthier. This really isn't that complicated to adjust to.

Don't worry!

By the way, forgot to mention. If you have a desk job you really don't need to take time off from work. I had my surgery on Friday and returned to work on Monday.

I am just over 3 months out and I am adjusting really well I think. The most difficult part is not drinking with meals, it doesn't sound like it would be too hard but for after 21 years of doing it, it's a tough habit to break. Also of course eating slower and chewing more. But other than those things, adjustment has been really easy. It doesn't affect my life at all to eat less. The only times people even notice are when I'm in a social situation centered around food. With their large portions and eating fast and my small portions and eating slow, we finish at the same time anyways.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
