Getting frustrated feel like I don't even have band.

Recommended Posts

I was banded Oct 14th and can still eat anything I have had 2 fills so I am at 4.5 cc's right now and the only thing that I noticed that I cannot eat it un toasted breads. They get stuck and that does not feel good at all. Other then that I can still eat whatever I want it is lesser then before the band, but it's still to much. Then the holidays didn't make it any better. This is frustrating and hard speacially when you still crave certain foods how do you stay on track? has anyone started off bad and ended up doing very well? Help please I need some encouragement.

Hey Neesh! I'm in the same boat as you. I was banded on 11/5 and have had 1 fill so far (4cc in an 11cc band). I'm still having to fight the urge to eat things I crave but know that I shouldn't have. My Physician Assistant told me last time that sometimes it can take between 3 and 5 fills to get to the "sweet spot" or "green zone" and I go once a month so I'm just hanging on to hope that it will get there soon because I don't know how much more self control I can have. The main holidays are over, but here we still have Mardi Gras and King Cakes to contend with....ughhh! Hopefully someone will come along with some encouraging words for us both. :rolleyes2:

Good luck!!

Hang in there both of you! It sounds to me like you both need more restriction so you won't be able to eat as much. food cravings go away after about 10-14 days after you stop eating sugars and starches. It can be tough but you have to be tougher.

Make up your mind that no matter what happens you will not give into the cravings. Plan your daily menu ahead of time so that you will be less likely to stray from the plan. Log all your food intake until you are confident you have things under control.

Make a plan to exercise. Plan exercise activity for each day. Spend 60-90 daily minutes focusing on walking, running, working out. Exercise also helps to keep the cravings for food at bay. Drink lots of Water and this will help you too.

Just do it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
