I have my surgery tomorrow morning!

Recommended Posts

I am so excited! I have my surgery tomorrow. Today I am suffering thrui the 24-hour clear liquid diet. Its REALLY hard to be on it and be at work. Oye.

I found out I have a tiny sliding hiatal hernia but have not been told if there will be a repair... Has anyone had this? I am waiting on my admitting nurse to call me back. I really hope I dont have to have hernia surgery as well. This news was a shock after i got my upper GI results.

Good luck with your surgery . . . I know you'll be glad to get this behind you . . . Mine's not until January 12, so I'm on pre-op diet now . . . I think my doctor will fix a hernia at the same time, so I don't know what to expect from you. . . all in all, I'm ready. Keep posting on we'll all know how you're doing! :rolleyes2:

Sorry about the hernia but good they can fix it when they "go in" . You will be fine...and it will all be worth it as it has been for thouands of others who have gone before you. I think this device is an amazing and I feel grateful every day that I have been fortuntate enough to find it and get it. Good for you and best of luck!!!

Congrats and good luck on your surgery tomorrow. If you do have a hernia your surgeon should fix it while he is in there. It shouldn't add to your recovery time or anything. Good luck again.

Congrats, you must be so excited. I was wondering did your surgeon tell you how long before surgery you should not drink alcohol. Some people say 2 weeks, others say 4 weeks, 8 weeks, etc...

I was put on a two week pre-op diet and, at that time, that's when the alcohol stops.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
