Elliptical What kind to get?

Recommended Posts

I want to buy an Elliptical but dont know what kinds are good. The challenge for me if that I have to find a good kind in Korea. I dont really know what features would be good to have so if anybody has any tips that would be good. I go to a gym near by but there arent any elliptical s there so i want one so I can get off my ass in the morning without going out in the cold.

What kinds do people recommend. How big are they? Are they loud?

Thanks

My only comment here is to try it before you buy it. I had one, got rid of it. I am tall, 5'9" but the stride was too large for my legs and really ended up hurting me. It was not adjustable (the stride anyway) and I really wish I had tried it first. I am now looking for a stair stepper instead.

Good luck! If you find a good one, let me know. :blushing:

I live in Korea and I have only seen ellpiticals online. They arent sold in stores that I can find and the local gyms dont have them. Thats why I was just wondering what kinds people use or have at their gyms that they like. I can search for the brand names here and then have the machine shipped to my apartment. Sadly no testing before buying :rolleyes2:

I have a proform xp 160 elliptical. It has an 18" stride and 275 lb user capacity. At the time (3 years ago), I paid $699 for it with free shipping. I purchased mine online from proform.com. I don't know what their shipping offers are for international shiiping, if any. Maybe you can try to find a local ftiness store or an online site that ships closer to you. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help. I also have a proform treadmill and it's very good as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
