Oatmeal, farina, cream of wheat?

Are any of those considered safe on a full liquid diet?

My surgeon included all of those on his full liquid list.

When I was at the store the other day I noticed there is one with Protein now. I'm going to buy that one next time. I think it was the cream of wheat?

These are not allowed on MY list until day 12 to 19 post op, which is the start of the pureeing phase also known as mushies (?). Tommorow is day 12 for me and I am starving!!!!! I've never liked hot Cereal, but right now...it sounds GREAT. I may give them another shot. Enjoy!

I'm not on a pre-op diet YET but I'm just trying some new foods and I just tried Cream of Wheat in Cinnabon flavor - i have to say that i was SAD that it went so fast! haha

Wanted to add that CoCo Wheats by Little Crow Foods is also excellent. So good that I eat for dessert some nights. I make a half serving with lowfat milk, Splenda, and I add a teaspoon of Hershey Special Dark cocoa powder. It really deepens the Choco flavor. It's warm and filling and keeps me full for several hours. Easy to, I use the micro directions.

It's cream of wheat and it's not as good as the regular. But I eat it because it has more portein.

It wasnt allowed for me, till the mushies stage...and definitely not pre op!! pre op you're trying to shrink your liver to make surgery safer....

to be honest though, I wouldnt even bother with either of these...there are much better higher Protein options out there, like cottage cheese or greek yogurt...the more you limit your processed carbs, the more results you'll see!

hang in there!! it gets better!!!

I was banded on July 1, and am down about 100 lbs...while the banded life aint a bed of roses, I'd do it again in a heart beat!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
