Congrats on your weight loss but as evidenced by others that can change at any time. And yes I will listen to my physician rather than you.

Cereal is not a slider food for me. It depends on how tight your band is. Cream of wheat is more of a slider, but my band is so tight in the mornings, sometimes I can not even eat that.

On my days off when I have time to eat Breakfast later in the day, 1/2 portion of oatmeal or 1/2 bowl of cereal keeps me full for hours.

I never for a moment even suggested that you not listen to your doctor or suggested that anyone not listen to their doctor. The statement you made about the weight changing at anytime was uncalled for and I will end this discussion with you now. You have gone over the line.

Im at the stage where I was told 2 eat egg mcmuffin for breakfast,

who told you to eat an egg mcmuffin ? That just sounds so wrong.

As for the cereal, choose a healthy one and use nonfat milk.

Egg McMuffins are actually a healthy choice. Not everything from fast food restaurants are bad for you. I think it is smart to know healthy fastfood choices if you are in a bind. Egg McMuffins are 250 calories without cheese, 290 with cheese.< /p>

I looked up the nutritional info on a couple of sites.

The egg mcmuffin is in no way a healthy choice.

The numbers were a little different on each site, but niether site gave a "healthy food" rating.

300 calories

12g fat

820 sodium!

260 mg cholesterol !

30 carbs!

by all means, eat what you think is right, and what your Dr. tells you to eat, but please at least re-think the egg mcmuffin thing. Lord knows, I myself am not the queen of nutrition and sometimes do not eat proper. I just can not fathom a NUT or a Dr. telling someone to eat an egg mcmuffin for breakfast.

Weight Watchers lists it in their fast food book as a good choice. I personally cannot stand McDonalds. If it works for someone, I think they should stick with it. It is all about modifications, calories in vs calories burned.

I just want to ask people to do some research on MSG. It is what they use on lab animals to make them obese so they do research obesity. It is a horrible, horrible thing. They synthesized it here in the US and that is when it became a problem. If you look at the proliferation in our food supply, it matches the increase in obesity. It is especially dangerous for children.

I am really not trying to push my beliefs on people, but it is just so important.

McDonalds is always a terrible choice.

well, whether egg mcmuffins are health food or not,

I can't eat bread. I can't eat meat. I can't eat eggs.< /p>

So that leaves me with the slice of cheese. No point in ordering the egg mcmuffin for me !!

An egg muffin might be a healthy choice if you make it at home, with a wholegrain muffin, a dry fried free range egg and as fat free as possible bacon, probably hold the cheese as you've got enough saturated fat there already.

Made from McDonalds, not so much. Not an every day food because of the crappy white sugary bread and that scary orange plastic cheese, but absolutely anything can fit into a healthy diet in moderation.

But it makes me laugh, arguments over slider foods. How can anyone insist somethign IS a slider food? It absolutely depends on how it reacts with you. Personally, cereal fills me and sticks with me and so does Soup. The liquid element doesnt seem to worry me or make me hungry. And full of wholegrains, fibre, and valuable nutrients, and Soup especially full of vegies (if you dont eat canned crap). So who the fig cares? If you want cereal enjoy it.

believe it or not, there's about a million ways and diet combinations that work to lose weight because at the end of the day calories are what matter.

I'm hooked on cereal and used to eat it 24/7 - didn't have to be breakfast. I can't wait till I get the green light for solids.

I might try putting a tiny bit of milk in to make it super soggy and oatmeal consistency. If it keeps me full then I'll stick with it, but if it slides right through then it I won't - just wasted cals.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
