Grr!!! Didn't get my new insurance card...

Recommended Posts

because my husband forgot to do a change of address with his company. (Thanks Hubby:eek:) His company had open enrollment in November, I specifically chose an insurance company that I know will cover the band. Our effective date is January 1, 2010...SOOO...I have to call Anthem on Monday and get them to send out our medical cards. I was hoping to get everything submitted on January 5 (my bday) I took the day off to go with my friend to get her fill and I was going to take all of my info to the Dr's office at that time. UGH! Its just SO frustrating because I wanted to get this done with a quickness!

Does anyone know if I can get my policy and group number, can the Dr's office use that to verify coverage with my insurance company or do they need the actual card???

Thanks

They can use the number and call for verification.

Sure just get the policy number and group number along with the phone number for per determination for BC/BS. You should be able to get the ball rolling.

You might want to go to myanthem.com and print out a temporary ID card. Otherwise, just call Anthem's customer service number and they can give you your member ID number as well as the telephone number your doctor needs to call to get the ball rolling.

I was just gonna say to go online and see if you can print a temporary ID card. I know I can do this w/Aetna and I would think most insurances would have this available online. Best of luck to you!

Thanks Everyone for your advice. I am going to call Anthem tomorrow, print out my temporary cards and fax all of my info to my Dr.s office. Ugh...I just wish I could magically be approved  and fast!

Good news is that you have Anthem. Not only can you go online to get that information, they were very easy to deal with (in my case.) They approved not only my surgery but will also cover my fills. I guess it does depend on what company you have the benefits through (my husband is Comair) I hope you have an easy time with it too!

So I called Anthem, got my policy number and was able to give it to my Dr.'s office. The office manager said that she would call Anthem for authorization (?) Now I'm gonna wait for my psych and nutritionist evaluations. She said this is just the beginning and in a few weeks or so I'd have a surgery date. YAY!:smile2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
