In order to be thin in 2010, what are your commitments?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I love making New Years' Resolutions every year and it's New Years Eve, so I need to start thinking about my commitments. My thoughts include committing to:

1. Some type of cardio/strength training 5X per week.

2. Drinking 64 oz of Water.< /p>

3. Taking my Vitamins (vitaband) every day

4. Limit my favorite slider foods (ice cream, candy, cookies) to one day per week only.

So...what are your commitments on this journey to good health in 2010?

Every year I make the same resolutions,

"lose weight"

This year I plan to make my goal weight and

work out 5-7 times a week

This is the first year I no I will do it!!

My resolution is to be as healthy as possible this year. I commit to:

1) Cardio 4xwk and Strength training 3 x wk (6days per week)

2) Follow band eating rules concentrating on quality Protein first. Chewing well and eating slowly.

3) Work on complusive eating issues and "head hunger" issues.

4) Limit slider foods (cookies, ice cream...) to one day per week. A designated "cheat day".

I can't make resolutions. They bring too much depression and guilt when I cheat or fail. Also, I am a guy and we hate commitment.

First of all, I am committed to strengthening my prayer life and thanking God for His many blessings in my life.

I am committed to doing the very best I can so that my health will continue to improve and my weight will continue to come down.

Exercise, healthy food choices, listen to my stomach (instead of my head) to tell me when I'm done eating

First and foremost, for myself personally I have to plan, plan and plan some more. I am an extremely detailed and organized person. I cannot allow myself to be spontaneous in any way or I will stray.

I have everything mapped out, even to the point on what time of day I will eat anything. I know what I’m going to eat as well.

The same is true for my workout routine. No wiggle room. At all! I am allowed a few days per month where I can make a dinner of my choosing or Breakfast or lunch too. I have to mark it off though on a spreadsheet to show myself that the option has been used. I do leave it open though because as we all know in life “things come up”. Otherwise I’m on plan and doing my thing.

I will be thin in 2010, there is no doubt. I have all my bases covered this time, more than any other time in my life.

Cheers!! Happy New You!!

First is to get banded no matter what on Jan 27th, I have been putting it off for work for the last 8 months.

Stick to cardio...I love weights so that is not a problem.

Drop 100 LBS in 2010. (Yeah, I know i should not be so agressive, but I have to in my mind.)

Cingulus, you can do that easy and then some. First of all, men lose weight really fast. Secondly it seems you have your priorities is check and that is going to help tremendously.

Best wishes for your upcoming surgery.

I agree with LMD.

I started at 365 and have lost 60 pounds barely trying in a little more than 3 months.

100 pounds in a year for a 350 pound man should be quick as long as there are no big slips.

I've decided to break down into small resolutions this year (instead of giving myself a whole year to do something and then procrastinate until the end of the year...)...SO that being said:

2010 Resolutions:

1. workout EVERY DAY in January..even if it's just a half hour walk.......

2. lots of Water and using my band to its fullest potential

3. getting another big fill on 1/27/10

4. reach 185 by 2/14/10

I just had my third fill yesterday, so now i'm at 7.5cc's in a 14cc band...YAY! What a great way to start off the new year!

WE CAN ALL DO THIS!!!!!!! Goodluck everyone!

ROFL.

I normally don't make resolutions for the same reason...although I am *not* a guy and not afraid of commitment.

Making a resolution about losing weight is a bit too much like dieting for me and I've sworn never to diet again.

I don't make promises to myself either. It almost always leads me to failure. However, I can say one thing. I plan to keep doing what I am doing and never to go back to my old self again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
