Surgery went well today 12/30/09

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow bandsters,

I was banded this morning at 7:30am. I was very nervous but after having it done, I am so glad that I did. I was super droggy when they first woke me up in the recovery room. I also was tired for most of the day. Around 5:30 I was able to get going and walked twice for about 20 minutes each. I plan on walking 20 more minutes before bed tonight. If you are considering having a lap band do it! It is not bad at all. I do have some pain when I am attempting to stand up or sit down. But, once I am up or down, I am good to go. I took some hydrocodone today to help with pain around my incisions. I have been drinking Protein Drinks and Water all day as well.

I am so excited for 2010 it is the New Me Year!:)

Congrats! You were banded on my birthday and I had my 2 week postop exam today. All is well and I "graduated to softie" foods today also. Down #25 since starting preop liquids on 12/02. God bless you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
