Nausea from Multi-vitamins?

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone, Well yesterday I was notified that my surgery date was moved from January 15, 1010 to the 13th. So yahhh!!!! 2 days sooner. But that meant today is day number 1 of my 14 day pre-op diet.

I have always taken my Multi-Vitamin after my toast in the morning as I have a history of having nausea when I take it on an empty stomach. Today I took it after my Protein Drink that I'm allowed for Breakfast and I am having nausea from it. Any one know any tricks? Its no huge deal I guess I can take it dinner instead?

Just seeing several weeks ahead of me with no solids to speak of and I do need to get the Vitamin into me.

Thanks you so much for the complement. I take centuim chewables they are orange flavored. I chew one up right before i go to bed so that way they get digested while i sleep and i don't get that nausea. I also had to do this when i was prego with both kids when i was on a muti couldn't stand to take them during the day.

My husband has the same problem but chewable and gummi Vitamins are fine for him and the lower dose kids Vitamins with 2 taken spaced out helps as well.

(And the Vitafusion gummi ones are crazy good!)

The form of Vitamins and minerals you take is very important.

In the case of Iron, for example, Iron tablets are awful for gastric band patients. They can have trouble passing the narrow opening caused by the band and thus wind up sitting on top of the band causing irritation. A chewable form of iron is always a better choice than a tablet form.

Take your Vitamins before bed, If you're not a good pill taker, or seem to "never remember" to take your vitamins, you'll need to vastly improve those habits!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
