Being Defilled in December= Disaster :/

Recommended Posts

So I eneded up getting a nasty stomach flu Dec 4th and had to be totally defilled due to not being able to get fluids down for 2 days. Not good. Of course this would happen to me before the holidays- and sadly I did not have the self control with an empty band to behave:( Gained about 10 pounds!!! Yikes! Just now started to get some restriction after 3 fills. I feel SO off track now, it's hard to get the weight loss mentality back. Has this happened to anyone else? How did you get back in the game?

I had to get a defill Dec 15th and have gained 8 pounds, so I feel your pain. I think Teacher07 said something supportive and true......we are still DOWN and it isn't the end of the world, it is a temporary wt gain and a signal for us to dig in and get back on the plan. I can't get an appt for 2 whole weeks, so I am going to try to count calories and increase my treadmill time......and try to be kind to myself and not beat myself up as a failure.

Good luck to you, too.

Mimi

I agree with getting an attitude of gratitude and go try to help someone else! Call somebody, pray or just pick up the phone

Set you mind on hitting the weight loss game hard come Monday (Jan 4th). Try and minimize the damage until then by only allowing healthy foods to cross your lips. It is also very important to keep exercising.

You are both doing great so try not to stress too much over a small gain.

hi mellabella

throughout my journey, i've had periods of being "in the game" and also "out of the game. so i totally understand how you feel.

it's so much easier when we feel "in" the game isnt it? hehe

i'm in a 12 step program and one technique i've learned there, that i try here..... is to "act as if" until i feel it.

what this means is to start putting actions in until i feel like doing it. trust me it isnt easy. it is when i least likely feel like doing it.

a few things i've done to help me get back in:

-i start journalling my food. this helps me to look at exactly what i'm putting in my mouth and not to minimize it. i've used sparkpeople.com, weightwatchers and also netdiary.com. people also use fitday.com which is similar to sparkpeople.

-i start exercising. sometimes this is merely getting dressed for the gym and walking in the door of the gym. i start small.

-i rely on a spiritual side for my program so i pray and read mind enriching materials.

i have to say it is usually really tough to start doing these things but little by little...i start feeling like i'm in control again.

anyway good luck on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
