Teacher07 3 Posted December 30, 2009 I opt for both before and after. Small amount of Protein before and small amount after. I would say about 100 calories total between the two.
jjh70 0 Posted December 30, 2009 I used to eat after but since the band the small quantities of food it dosen't affect me like before the band but I do wait at least an hour after eating to exercise so I can drink Water. But I'm still experimenting with setting a eating pattern. I tend to work out at night 7 pm or later.

Yvette1026 0 Posted December 30, 2009 Banded or not, you should always take in Protein within an hour of exercising. Your muscles build and feed off of Protein. You want to make sure you're fueling your muscles while you're burning fat. What personal trainers call "the after burn" your body will continue to burn 30-60 mins after you've stopped working out. Personally I drink "Whey Up" and Water while I'm working out. The "Whey Up" is a protein gatorade type drink but it tastes like a 5 hour energy drink.. Then I usually end with a Protein shake or Protein Bar if I'm not due for a meal. The upside of what I do is I'm around professional athletes, fitness experts and trainers all the time, I just soak in their knowledge and at times apply it lol... Hope that helps. dededidi 0 Posted December 30, 2009 For me it varies, I usually work out in the morning and my band usually feels tight. I might have a Protein Shake, or just Vitamin Water while I'm working out. after my work out I would have a yogurt danon lite and fit 80cal.

Jachut 487 Posted December 30, 2009 Whatever, depends when I work out. Usually after though - I often run at about 5, 5.30 pm, and I go to bootcamp at 7. We tend to eat at about 7.30 in our house, so I usually go without eating. I'm not a big believer in Protein Shakes and bars as a requirement before and after exercise, I figure its a lot of calories exactly when you're trying to burn them off, makes no sense to me. I think an overall balanced diet will be fine and give your muscles what they need and the average exerciser (as opposed to the champion body builder) simply doesnt need to be so scientific - you can burn 600 calories without needing to replace everything within the hour. I certainly have built plenty of muscle anyway, but who knows, perhaps I would have looked like Ms Unviverse! So unless I happen to eat a meal after, I dont supplement anything either. I also only drink plain Water, dont find the need for sports drinks at all. I just figure if burning calories is my goal, I'm not going to go eating them again straight away.
