piperbaby 0 Posted October 24, 2005 I am so excited:p I was coming back from lunch today and it was the Dr B's office calling to tell me that the medical director from Cigna had called her and told her my denial was approved! I can hardley believe it. I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off of me.

piperbaby 0 Posted October 26, 2005 Thanks everyone! You know it seems like finally I am here. I tryed in 2003 and was denied. This round I was denied twice and then magically by the grace of god Cigna reversed the decision after having another dr look at it. I was all set to appeal again. So, im on the countdown now and seems like everywhereI turn im hearing negative things about the band:nervous I have been so sure of this choice for 2 years and now that its happening im wonderig if this is the right choice. I really got creamed at work by someone who had RNY about how this is not gonna work and I better go at least see her dr before I go thru with this. I really dont want to. I NEED to believe that this is my option and what happens after it based on what I do with it. Did anyone experience this? I have no plans to not do it and figure it will all be fine in the end. Please tell me it's so.
enndee 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi: I think you will find that most people who have had the RNY will support that route, but most people who have had the Lap Band will think it's the best. For me, the less intrusive was my choice. Even my own personal doctor (who has never had ANY patients go through the Lap Band process yet, told me "of course the RNY is the BEST weight loss method--the data proves that!")--but of course me being me decided to investigate both and chose the one I felt was best for me. I decided that it's my body and my decision and she (my personal dr.) can have her opinion but in the end I will decide. Now she WILL know one patient who has done the Lap Band method and she will see how it goes. So far, my experience has been even better than I imagined and I am losing weight!! So, my point is, what ever you decide is best for you, go for it and IGNORE all of the judgments others have. Make it a great day!! Good luck!!!
