congrats to you both!! What a way to start out your year. My pre-op process was about 9 months, with two sleep studies and then the six-month insurance required jump-through-the-hoop process. And I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Good luck to you both. My daughter and I are both banded. We're realllll cheap dates for a dinner out ...lol

Hi Maria,

My experience with Anthem was wonderful. Never did I think I would say such a thing about an insurance company but they were truely wonderful. It took my surgeons office quite a while to send the paperwork over to them but they finally got it on 12/23 and when I called on 12/28 (not realizing they had recieved it already) they said I had been approved on 12/24. So it took them 1 day to approve me. I have no co-morbids and had a starting BMI of 51... it is now 42. I dealt with Anthem out of Maine. I hope that helps!! Good luck next week you must be excited!!! ;)

I also have a data, I am so so so so so so so HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My date is Feb 11, 2010. I am so excited. My doctor only requires at pre-op diet if your BMI is over 50, I have a BMI of 40 or 41. This is going to be the longest month ever.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
