Asthma or allergies improve?

Recommended Posts

Just curious if anyones allergies or asthma improved with weight loss?

I'm not expecting it but it would be a added bonus!

I would definitely say my asthma is better. I rarely use medicine at all anymore!

Will be following replies to this thread. I have allergies and fairly severe asthma, too.

The asthma always improves when I am good about exercise and my allergist is certain it will improve with weight loss. Hoping she is right!

My asthma is triggered primarily by allergens. Colds and the flu always end up being difficult to get over because they go right into my chest and stay there. Sometimes exercise and being too hot will do it too.

I would say over the last two years my asthma has worsened considerably as well as my allergies.

They always told me I would "grow" out of it. I've had it my entire life - when am I going to grow out of it!?!

I have tried all sorts of remedies - all natural, over the counter and prescription drugs. Thank god for inhalers and nebulizers!

At least the doctors and allergists know alot more now than they knew when I was young. The drugs, side effects and treatments used to be near torture for me.

I am looking forward to losing the weight and imagine that alone will make breathing a little easier!

My asthma is better. I am now on ONE inhaler instead of three.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
