I was banded 08-30-07. I have ALWAYS had this pain in my shoulder. I can not figure out if it is when I get full (which is when I feel it the most) or then some days I wake up with this pain. I do not ever throw up unless I eat something that just gets stuck. Instead I feel this shoulder pain all the time. I am not sure that this is normal. It prevents me from wanting to get a fill because I think that I am not ready for one ( I have not had one since Sept), but I still have the major tightness in my left shoulder. Does anyone else have this problem?

I was banded with the 4cc lap band in September 2007. When I was full, it was the usual burping, runny nose and coughing. In October 0f 2009, I had to have that band removed because of slippage and the developement of a hiatal hernia. That band was removed, the hernia repaired and a new AP Lap band placed. Brother !! Do I know what you are talking about with the shoulder pain. It is intense in my left shoulder when I eat solids or even drink too fast. My research has shown this is a common symptom with band patients; but, totally new to me with this new band. One time, in a restaurant, I had to totally convince some people with me that I was not having a heart attack when I reached up to my left shoulder while eating. I can tell you that it will take me a while to learn how to deal with this and how to avoid getting to the point of that pain. Incidentally, the band procedure has been great for me. I have lost 98 pounds since my first surgery and am 11 pounds from my original goal.

Funny, I get a sharp pain in left shoulder if I haven't ate in awhile & I'm hungry. I've heard a lot of people talk of this.

I was banded in April 07 I have had shoulder pain every since. My dr said it usually goes away in all but about 5%. Sometimes its much worse then others, and I even get it in my right shoulder too. I try to figure out what causes it cuz there really is no ryme or reason..Oh but yah I have A LOT of burping at the same time, its a constant burping and I have often wondered if the cold weather makes it worse for me? I dunno..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
