Favorite Starch-Free B-Fast Ideas!

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some new ideas for Breakfast. I'm not allowed any starch or red meat at this point, but any other Protein (chicken, fish, cheese, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt), cooked vegies, and fruit are OK. Oh, and I'm not supposed to have shakes or anything that would be considered a 'slider' food.< /p>

My favorite breakfast so far has been cottage cheese w/smoked salmon. I've been eating it every day. But, I'm sure I'll get bored of it eventually so need to start trying some other things for b-fast.

Greek yogurt is very high in Protein, add a few fresh berries and you're doing great. I like soft scrabled eggs. I mix a little high protein milk in with the beaten eggs and they are much softer and go down much easier. It's more like a custard. A little cheese with it is nice too. Sprinkle a dollop of ricotta cheese on top of thin sliced apples with sweetner and pumpkin pie spice and heat in the microwave. It's like haviing a cheese blintz. Crab and cheese omelette.... YUM I'm a HUGE smoked salmon fan, but I've never tried it with cottage cheese. Sounds like I have a new menu item!!! Thanks.

I usually have a couple of slices of turkey bacon and a cheese stick.

Thanks so much for all the great ideas! I had never seen baked eggs before. I love my eggs over easy, but w/no toast, potatoes, or rice to soak of the yolk, I didn't see how I'd make them work for me. Baking the eggs on a bed of spinach is a great idea. Also, I had forgotten that I can eat turkey bacon and really any of the b-fast meats that are made out of turkey, chicken, or soy. And, a crab omelette, rocotta, greek yogurt, etc... Mmmmmmmmmm!!! Thanks again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
