pain with overeating

Recommended Posts

O.K I have done really well until the last couple of day this holiday season. Don't get me wrong, I am still eating a tremendous amount less than what I used to. I haven't felt sick the couple of times I overate, but I had some pain and discomfort. Is this normal? Also, I am 6.5 weeks post op and everytime I lay on my left side I feel like I am lying on a lump of something. I never had this feeling before. Does anyone else feel this when they are lying on their left side? Hope everyone had a great Christmas and hope everyone has a safe New Year.

I had that funny feeling on my left side when I would lay down for about 2 months, then it just suddenly went away.

It is normal to have pain when you overeat, that is why as soon as you start to feel full, you need to stop eating. You don't want to put too much pressure on the band in the beginning. I get a tight sensation in my chest and I know if I take one more bite, I'm going to either be in pain or throw up.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
