I went through the cupboards & fridge yesterday and got rid of all the unhealthy stuff. Friends had brought over ice cream, full fat egg nogg, breads, dips, Cookies and other stuff for our dinner and left them.

I hesitated tossing good food out but after having the second slice of crusty bread with brie I knew I had to. I've always considered my relationship to food much like that of an alcoholic and an alcoholic would not try to live with unopened bottles of booze. Plus I live alone so I can have more control over my space.

I did feel guilty and thought I could wait until Monday and perhaps give it to someone but when I started reaching for the ice cream I did what Weight Watchers suggests--destroy it! I put dish washing liquid on the ice cream and then everything went into a garbage bag and into the dumpster. I was on the edge of a full tilt lap band binge. I immediately felt so much better.

Today I woke up, had my oatmeal and I feel so much better with my kitchen in order. I only have unprocessed healthy foods and this is the way it should be. For me.:biggrin::)

good for you! I hate it when people try to leave leftovers at the fat persons house or buy the fat person candy, cakes and Cookies for holidays...

good luck!

Thank you. I wanted to post here as I can't really "share" this with most folk who wouldn't understand.Writing it also helps me remember that I need to do this.

Great Job! I did the same thing with all those Christmas Cookies friends gave me. For some reason it gave me more satisfaction to flush them down the toilet telling my self that is where they could go anyway, after leaving their calories on me!

Well, tomorrow is the big day for me, I'll be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. I am very lucky, only had to do one day of pre-op Clear liquids, with 2 or 3 Atkins shakes - it's going well so far. I don't feel too nervous, more concerned about following the diet after surgery, but I guess it will all fall into place and will be a continuing learning curve. Thank you to everyone who has posted on this website, I have learnt so much from you all.

December Delight here I come!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
