Hi! My name is Lisa. I am having my surgery on Monday! I am very nervous and excited. I am sitting here drinking my last carbonated drink for a long time! Good Bye Caffeine, How I will miss you!

I was told that tomorrow I am to only drink Clear Liquids the day before surgery. Does anyone know if you can drink the clear Protein Drinks that day too?

I am glad this site it here. I will be reading a lot of information and experiences on here tonight.

I wish everyone success!

Thank you Humming Bird and Mimi! I am very excited about tomorrow.

Mimi, my doctor told me no soda or caffeine. He said the caffeine would irritate my stomach. Are you allowed to have caffeine, if so, in what form? Maybe I can talk my doctor into letting me have it! LOL I need my coffee!!!

lisaluvsgreys-

I'm excited for you! My dr also told me no soda & no caffeine. He gave me a reason of no caffeine because it can dehydrate you & also can actually cause some people to become hungry. I sneak it in everyone once in awhile and it does have the dehydrating affect on me. But good luck! Clear Protein drinks ex. Isopure (u can purchase it at GNC). But I warn you, it's super duper sweet, so get the H2O out & be ready to mix. :)

So the "luvsgreys" would that be Grey's Anatomy?! B/c I'm a huge fan if so.

Luvsgreys is for greyhounds!! I have been involved in greyhound rescue for over ten years. I currently have one grey. I lost my other grey to cancer.

Lisa,

I am having my surgery on 12-30... WEDNESDAY!!! yay!

So, I completely feel your excitement!!!

Good luck with everything!

My doctor just said no soda, but I haven't had caffiene for a couple of years now steadily. An occasional cup of coffee, but only really GOOD coffee. lol

My doctor says only a liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery... it's strange when I came on this website and found out that isn't a requirement across the board...

I love this website and how informative it is... lots of like minded people out there and bouncing good ideas (and some bad ones) off each other to get through this weightloss journey and MAJOR life change...

Good luck tomorrow!!!

mine said coffee and tea are ok .... no soda.

In fact, my NUT said that the tea + sweet n low that I drink daily is ok. I never have liked carbonated stuff much, but have been drinking the tea + sweet n low for many years.

Hey ladies! Just wanted to say that I am having surgery on 12-30 as well! I am SO nervous! I am reading all this information, and I am a little concerned. My doctor didn't say anything at all about a pre-op diet, or even about clear liquids the day before! How weird? I feel like he might have left quite a few things out now!

Thank you Amy! I am home from the hospital now, and very sore. I miss my morphine! LOL The doctor gave me a pain reliever, but it does not work as well. He told me that I would be in more pain today, and he was right. So far, I have not had any gas issues....knock on wood!

Any recommendations? Thank you for your support!

Hi Lisa!! :)

SO good to hear from you!! :tongue2: Just curious, is this your first surgery or your first abdominal surgery? Unfortunately, it is painful because you really do use those muscles for everything you do (getting in/out of bed, sitting/standing, walking, bending, lifting, etc). However, trust me, the pain will be better by tomorrow and will practically be gone by Friday. Move slowly and when you have a pain spasm take deep breaths. Try lying in bed or sitting in a chair and just deep breath. And take your pain meds every 4 hours or as prescribed by your doctor. If you are still in severe pain tomorrow morning, call him. He may have to call in something different for you. Everyone's system is different and therefore reacts differently to pain meds. You might need something different. In fact, if the pain is intolerable right now, I'd call him and see if there was something else you could take in addition to the pain meds (maybe advil??).

Just take it easy and try to use lots of pillows to prop your body into a comfortable position. Breathe, relax, and know that it will get better.

Also, some people use heating pads for the pain. I didn't but have heard of it. You might want to try it.

Lisa, it WILL get better!! Keep the faith, girl!! Hope this helps!!

You should be banded by now or soon to be! Congrats! Take it easy and relax!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
